Falling Leaves

They sit bright on their branches

Creating a rainbow of colors

Colors left over from a long summer

Of embracing the sun’s light

Colors exhibiting their transformation

Before they gracefully fly

To their final resting ground

Back to the earth

To nourish the others coming forth.

Their brilliance,

Their beauty

Their last Hoo-rah

Reminds me again, again, again

Things change

Leaves light up the world

And then they gracefully Fall

Just as we do

When our Dharma is done

We return to the earth

Back to our elemental state

Time and time again

So precious, so short

These leaves here and now

I breathe it in

I walk into it

I see it

I let it go
