The End

The deadline has come and gone

It’s over

The end of the month

The end of the challenge

The place where things come to wind down

The beginning of something new.
*

What will be your purpose in this new month?

To be kind and caring every day?

Meet the challenge of compassion toward all?

Finish the project rolling around on the floor?

Continue to live your poetry?

*

Regardless, it’s certainly over

Done, finished, complete

Whether you care or not,

It has ended

And something new shall emerge.

Graphic Grief

Tears streamed down her face and turned to ice

Plunking on the ground, shattering,

Clink, clank, clunk.

The lump in her throat was splitting her in two

Ripping, shredding, pieces

Her bloody soul splashing to the ground.

How could it be repaired

The freezing, searing, unending pain

Of a too ‘oft’ broken heart?

Screaming, crying, wailing

Red anger bursts out like flames

Burning all who dare to come near.

Someday the tears will melt, no longer made of ice

In the future the shredding will end

And the flames will fade into the distance

Beyond time.

Seasonal Haikus

Winter Haiku:

Cold settles in now
Chilling me to the deepest
Snow is on the way.

Spring Haiku:

Spring is far away
I can hear it calling me
A future vision

Summer Haiku:

Summer heats us up
A jump in the coldest lake
Refreshed yet again

Fall Haiku:

A nip in the air
Leaves so slowly change and fall
The end of season

Remind Me

Call me back

Send that little message

It will help me remember

Why I am here now.

Whisper or shout

Remind me that I am to provide service

From a place of love

From a well of kindness

In a way that supports peace.

Send your messenger

And I will receive

The spiritual strength to move forward

To carry on brightly

To gather the bottom and the sides

In way that somehow lovingly crushes the top.

Use me in this time

Of great difficulty and despair

Just remind me

Fill me up

Help me to boil to the top.

A Little Yoga

You want healing

Take just a little yoga now.

Feel the breath

Be present.

Notice body, breath, spirit yoked together

Notice thoughts

Watch thoughts change.

Accept all of it:

The body today

The fear and pain today

The joy and pleasure today.

At the end of the hour

Or longer

Notice the release

From stress, anxiety, fear, and pain

Walk into peace, ease, and grace

And thank all beings.

Namaste.

Glimpses

Glimpses of fall collide with winter

A tree still holding her colorful leaves

The warmth of the sun beating down

Yet ice forms on the pond each night.

Ski resorts are making snow

But doesn’t it melt as fast as it is made?

A cold rainy day and into the night

When the rain moves out, black ice forms

As cold Northern Winds blow across the land.

This cross over, this collision of seasons

It may be an opportunity

To rest in the space between seasons

The gap between times

The pause place before winter.

Remember

I don’t remember

Making the journey to today

Or the day I was born

And the moment you slipped away.

I don’t recall the time it took

To heal from when you hurt me

Or the burning pain, so very deep

Like a rolling, frothing, raging sea.

I also can’t call back

The times of great joy and love

When we were held tight

Enmeshed in a power from above.

This is the problem with me

With the structure of my limited brain

I can’t remember much

The clouds remain unslain.

But maybe it’s a way to move beyond

Oh, yes it could just be a blessing

A way to move forward

So love keeps progressing.
