Don’t

Don’t ask me about infinity

Or the time we nearly died

Don’t make my mind think like that

I know now that we lied.

Don’t tell me it will all be better

That life works out that way

You know I don’t believe it

Still ain’t scared of your judgement day.

So don’t ply me with you smile

And ask me to do what’s good

Don’t let me think this is love

Or that you treat me like you should.

Don’t ask me

Cause I ain’t scared

Don’t tell me

I’ll never be prepared.

Don’t call me

I won’t answer anyway

You don’t scare me

It’s meant to end this way.

Gratitude

Open up your heart

Practice a little gratitude

All you have been blessed with

Making note will change your attitude.

A simple cup of coffee

Thanks be to all being who made it happen

A smile on a child’s face

The joy when they are laughing.

Snowflakes falling, swirling about

Cold grey skies above

Being able to play in white fluff

Skiing, skating, doing the things you love.

A job, a career

A place to work and grow

Colleagues who are kind and caring

Learning to accept and let go.

Health, wellness, and well being

Enables us to share with others

Gifts of loving kindness

Sharing wisdom passed down from ancestral mothers.

Let’s practice this all year long

And live in our place of gratitude

Let’s remember to care for self

And create those shifts in attitude.

Hush Now

Hush now

Watch a river flowing by

Guided by winds and tides

You reflect what meets the eye.

*

Quiet now

Stand strong as the tallest tree

Take up your space when needed

And do it comfortably.

*

Smile now

Watch the eagle fly overhead

Soar higher and higher

Rise above the flow of bloodshed.

*

Tears now

Seeing children laugh and play

Let go of fears of tomorrow

And be filled with grace today.

A Dusting of Winter

A dusting of white snow

Falls from the sky

And covers this world

In a beautiful quiet sugar coating

Crystals, clear, white, purity.

A chance now to settle down

Into some winter healing

Playing, resting, cuddling

Yoga before sudden snow squalls

And naps in front of warm fireplaces.

Hot tea to coat the soul

White winter dreams

Emerging through the long, cold, dark nights

Twinkling like the stars

That guide us from above.

It’s just a dusting of snow

For now it’s here

And tomorrow it may be gone

Flying away, melting back to earth

Like the thoughts that stream through

Our warm winter dreams.

Counting Blessings

I sit and count

One blessing after another

So many reasons to be grateful

For this moment right here and now.

Today I saw two single rouge snowflakes

It was supposed to rain

And yet God knows I love snow…

He must have sent me the flake as silent sign of hope.

Tonight I will drive home safely

In my warm car

And arrive in time to kiss two beautiful girls goodnight

My heart will be filled with love and gratitude.

I never thought this dream was possible

And yet here it is, day after day

This beautiful life unfolding

Blessings and gratitude building upon each other

Day after day after….

The Fall

Glorious colors all around

I am entranced as I move through the forest

Small crab-apples crunch under foot

Leaves of orange, yellow, and red abound.

*

A breath, a second, a moment

And I am face down

Seemingly tripping over nothing

I lay sprawled on the soft mud and moss.

*

It could have been a rock or a root

That rose up from the earth

To meet my face

Instead my fall is broken softly.

*

I continue on

More cautious, still observing

As some leaves come sailing down

Gloriously dressed for their final descent.

*

They captured the sunlight

God’s beauty blazing through them

And now they shall soon rest

After the wind ceases to blow them here and there.

*

I too am like these leaves

Maybe now is the fall of my life

A time to blaze with God’s glory

And someday make the gentle descent.

The Way She Breathes

Running through the woods

The trail rises up, to meet her feet

She is running through the woods

And green life breathes around her.

~

Standing by the sea

Oceans pounding, rising, receding

Drip by drop they sing their rhythmic sound

And the ocean breathes itself into being in front of her.

~

Living by the river

Pink-orange sun rises above the calm tidal body

River ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows

And the river breathes itself to life beside her.

~

Back to the deep green forest

Back to the swirling ocean waves

Home to the river, flowing onward

This is the way she breathes.

What Love Made

Take a look all around you

And with open wide open eyes

Heart open and present

Recognize what love made.

~

Love made two beautiful girls

With sparkling blue eyes

Hair of golden color

Smiles as wide as the sea.

~

Love made the sunrise this morning

Turning the clouds to vibrancy

Of oranges and pinks

Reminders of the brilliant day ahead.

~

Love is everywhere, present in all things

Turning buds into flowers, chicks into birds

Rising and lowering the tides

Burning up the old and creating space for the new.

~

This is what love made

See it right before your eyes

Marvel at in your sight

Express your gratitude for a world enveloped in love.

A Tribe

She walked in the room
Breathed deeply
I am at home
This is my tribe.
*
Hearts were wide open
Love flowed everywhere
She looked with all of herself
Third eye awareness.
*
How many lifetimes
Had they met in this way?
A cosmic consciousness
To love, serve, remember.
*
Rooted together
Healing the self and other
Growing stronger each day
A tribe to call home.
*
She walked out of the room
Carrying with her
The tribe’s light
Rooted in loving, serving, remembering.

So simple

In this warm house

I give thanks today

For the very simple things

Which have come my way.

~

A warm fire crackles

As drizzle melts icy snow

The aroma of many foods cooking

These simple things I know.

~

I open my heart with love

And let the light shine in on us

I recognize with great gratitude

All we need not now discuss.

~

The challenge is now to keep coming back

To these simple things that matter

For when suffering barges in

The heart like glass may shatter.

~

So I shall return again, again, again

To a space of gratitude and love

And recognize all simple blessings

Bestowed from high above.
